Woodchuck on the lawn.
Wood chuck near the driveway.
Eventually the woodchuck saw me and ran away.
Squirrel watching from a tree branch.
This tree face was there when we moved in.
Dragon fly.
Squirrel up in a tree.
The house, seen from the front yard.
The side flower garden.
Asparagus in the garden.
The house and the front lawn
Tree and vegatable garden (containing only asparagus right now, needs cleanout).
Lower yard from the driveway.
Looking down the driveway towards the road. The neighbor's house at the left has an easement to share the driveway. Wheel ruts are from the seller's moving truck, I think.
Looking up the driveway towards the house.
Marsh seen through the trees. Note the underground electrical service, and the transformer.
Small turnaround/parking area at the bottom of the hill.
House from the top of the driveway.
Two entrances: One on the first floor, one on the second from the balcony.
View from the front door down the lawn.
Alongside the house, looking towards Beaver Brook.
Yard stuff.
The back of the house (facing Beaver Brook).
The Toro riding mower (circa 1986). We bought this "as is" from the seller and with a new blade it runs well. Walk-out basement door behind.
Stihl FS45 gas string trimmer.
The living room looking towards Beaver Brook.
Beaver Brook deepwater marsh (according to the MA DEP). The property line extends to the dry bed of Beaver Brook.
Robin near our wood pile.
Another view of the robin.
Flowers at 18 Porter Rd.
Flower from our garden.
One of the rabbits that inhabits our lawn. On the far side of the driveway.
Now s/he is frozen watching me, about to enter the woods. Unburied FiOS fiber optic cable can be seen behind. Look at the battle worn ears!
Subcontractors for Verizon came to bury our FiOS cable using a "ditch witch"
The boss working the ditch witch. You can see the fiber optic cable threaded through the mechanism.
Here is the trench left by the ditch witch. The cable is inside.
Working through the muddy area near the bottom of the driveway (lots of rain last few days). Red flags mean buried electric - they went right over them.
Across the grassy area on the north side of the driveway. The younger guy in the front kept the cable free (there was a lot of excess) and the third guy tamped any big rocks back under.
Their trailer had a ton of conduit on it, but it wasn't used. Presumably because the fiber was already lit.
This area was done by hand, perhaps because the electrical feed to the neighbors' house was nearby (note red paint on the driveway)
Continuing down the driveway you can see how it leaves the grass almost undisturbed.
Once the cable was run all the way down the driveway they drove the Ditch Witch back up to compact the driveway back over the fiber.
Here is the wire entering the house near the gas line entry point. This was done by the Verizon tech one month ago. The clear drain is from the condensing furnace.
Apparently at one point this tiny shed contained an external furnace unit. Now it just has the exhaust from the condensing furnace. Note the fiber and yellow digsafe flag (natural gas).
