Ellen reading.
Molly was trying to have a private conversation with Abby across the table..
Ellen.
While it still looks like milk, the cultures have turned it into curds and whey - note the little milk jug plastic thingy does not sink!
Ellen cutting curds.
Molly makes strange faces.
Cutting curds for the cheddar.
Perfect temperature for cheddar...
Cheddar curds.
This is the loaded cheddar press. The cheese is wrapped in cheesecloth. A metal plate at the top is pressed down and this presses the liquid out of the cheese.
Gennie also makes strange faces.
Ricki, who led the cheese making workshop.
30 minute fresh mozzarella. Cool, huh?
Gennie.
Abby looking at something interesting.
Jamie packing the cheese press. The cheese cloth lines the metal press, and the cheese curds go inside. The metal part of the press has some holes which let out the whey pressed out of the cheese.
Jonie watching the cheddar pressing.
Glamour Molly.
Gennie, lost in thought.
This is the cheese press.
Jamie demonstrates the (partially) pressed cheddar. It needs to be rotated (upended) and repressed periodically until the pressing is complete. Ideally the rotation and re-wrapping also smooths out the bumps on the cheese.
I'm not sure how to interpret the look on Gennie's face.
Molly eats a forbidden fruit.
Gennie seems to be intrigued by Molly's sampling of the forbidden apple.
Spoons are apparently tasty.
